The EOLIAN team met in Spain on 16-17 June for the project’s M12 General Assembly.
We thank Tekniker for welcoming us to their site in Eibar in the scenic Basque Country.
The project’s first year has passed quickly, and we’ve achieved a lot already! The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to review the progress made towards EOLIAN’s goal ꟷ a more sustainable wind turbine blade manufactured from novel composite materials based on bio-based vitrimers with basalt fibre reinforcement, and the development of in-mould electronics technologies to enable structural health monitoring and de-icing.
The first day of the meeting involved a Preliminary Design Review meeting focusing in on all of the project’s objectives.
An informal dinner in Bilbao allowed the team to continue the discussions and take in some of the sights of the city.
The second day continued with work package updates and planning for the next phase of development. Our end-user partners Norvento Enerxía and Zorlu Energy Group then presented an informative workshop on wind turbine design and operations and maintenance.
The event concluded with a tour of Tekniker’s laboratories.
Watch out for more updates from the General Assembly and news on EOLIAN’s next steps soon.
