EOLIAN participated in a CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) workshop in Brussels on 19th February.

EOLIAN project coordinator Marco Monti of Proplast was joined by Professor Roberto Frassine of the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA), leader of  Work Package 8: Dissemination and exploitation.

We had the pleasure of joining 28 other Horizon Europe wind energy projects to network, exchange knowledge, and discuss innovation and policy priorities in the wind sector.

Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the EU’s ambitious research and innovation programme for 2021-2027, with a budget of €95.5 billion. It tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. CINEA runs parts of the programme.

Horizon Europe wind energy projects support the transition to a reliable, sustainable and competitive energy system. 63 projects have been supported since 2014, with a combined total funding of approximately €450 million.

More sustainable wind blades

EOLIAN – Bio-based, repairable and recyclable vitrimer composites and sensors for highly reliable, sustainable wind blades – commenced in June 2024.

EOLIAN is aiming to develop blades offering numerous advantages over current thermoset composite designs.

EOLIAN blades will deliver a longer service life, be simpler to maintain and repair, and easier to repurpose and recycle at the end of their use, offering a more sustainable solution over their complete life cycle.
