EOLIAN partner Zorlu Enerji is participating in the 9th Annual Wind Blade Materials Innovation and Sustainability Forum in Istanbul on 15-16 September.
Zeynep Korkmaz, R&D Specialist, Zorlu Enerji, will give the presentation Bio-based, repairable and recyclable vitrimer composites.
This will present an overview of the EOLIAN project’s goals:
- Development of smart, repairable and recyclable wind turbine blades using vitrimer composites;
- Integration of embedded sensors for structural health monitoring and anti-icing
functions; - Use of bio-based resin and basalt fibres to enhance sustainability;
- Design and testing of a 14-m vitrimer blade demonstrator;
- Reduction of maintenance costs and environmental impact across blade life cycle.
In EOLIAN, Zorlu Enerji, headquartered in Turkey, is leading the Exploitation activities – IP management task. It is involved in the project with the experience gained from its role as a wind energy producer, investor, and operator. (Learn more in the article Meet the partners: Zorlu Enerji.)
The presentation is scheduled for 9.40 am on 16th September.
Advancing blade materials and manufacturing
The Wind Blade Materials Innovation and Sustainability Forum is organised by TBM Group. This year’s event is designed to attract experts, engineers and innovators to Turkey to explore the evolving intersection of material science, recyclability, supply chain resilience, and environmental responsibility.
With an increased industry push toward circularity, improved life cycle performance and sustainable design, the forum promises to offer a opportunity to benchmark best practices, explore cutting-edge developments, and address shared challenges across the wind energy value chain.
