In a new EOLIAN video, Giulia Di Dio of Proplast discusses the company’s work in the EOLIAN project developing vitrimer resins and manufacturing basalt fibre reinforced vitrimer composites for wind turbine blades.
In Work Package 2, Proplast is developing vitrimeric resins by carefully studying their chemistry and the key formulation parameters. The research explores different chemical strategies leading to vitrimeric systems with tailored properties.
In parallel to this activity, Proplast is producing basalt fibre composites using these innovative resins. Composite panels are produced using a dedicated manufacturing setup that was specifically designed for this application.
Thanks to the intrinsic properties of vitrimers these composites will be repairable and recyclable.
